This study delves into the determinants influencing the career choices of secondary school students in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria. Through a questionnaire-based approach involving 100 students from four local schools, the research examines the relationship between various factors and students’ career decisions, utilizing the person-moment correlation coefficient for analysis. The findings highlight significant influences, including family background, peer group pressure, societal perceptions of certain occupations, and the school environment. These findings underscore the complex interplay between personal preferences and external influences on students’ career aspirations. The study advocates for proactive intervention strategies, emphasizing the importance of parental guidance, educator involvement, and counseling support in facilitating informed career decision-making among secondary school students.
