The Impact of School Environment on Academic Performance of Junior Secondary Students in Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State

This research investigates the impact of the school environment on the academic performance of junior secondary students in Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State, Nigeria. The study addresses the critical need to understand how various factors within the school environment influence student outcomes, particularly in a context marked by socioeconomic disparities and educational challenges. Drawing on existing literature, the research identifies gaps in empirical research specifically focusing on junior secondary students in Ikeja LGA, highlighting the necessity for a comprehensive investigation into this relationship. The study aims to identify key dimensions of the school environment, analyze their association with academic performance, and explore stakeholders’ perceptions regarding this relationship. Through a quantitative research approach, data is collected through surveys from junior secondary students within Ikeja LGA, focusing on variables such as school facilities, teacher quality, learning resources, and school leadership. Findings from the study are expected to contribute to theoretical frameworks, inform educational policies, and enhance practices aimed at improving educational quality and fostering academic success among junior secondary students in Ikeja LGA and similar settings. The research findings hold significant implications for educational policymakers, administrators, educators, and other stakeholders invested in enhancing educational experiences and outcomes for junior secondary students.
