Instructional Objectives
At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Define STIs, STDs, and AIDS, and understand their differences.
- Identify and describe various types of STDs and their effects on health.
- Explain the importance of responsible sexual behavior and ways to prevent STDs and HIV/AIDS.

- Basic knowledge about health and hygiene.
- General understanding of diseases and how they affect the body.

- Meaning of STIs/STDs/AIDS:
- STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections): Infections spread primarily through sexual contact.
- STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases): Diseases caused by infections that are spread through sexual contact.
- AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome): A serious condition caused by HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) that weakens the immune system.
- Types of STDs:
- Chlamydia: Often causes pain during urination and abnormal discharge.
- Gonorrhea: Can cause pain in the lower abdomen and unusual discharge.
- Syphilis: Can cause sores and rashes.
- HIV/AIDS: Weakens the immune system and can lead to serious infections.
- Effects of STDs/HIV/AIDS:
- Physical effects include pain, discomfort, serious health complications, Stigma.
- Emotional and social effects include stigma, anxiety, relationship issues, Healthcare System Burden, Loss of Productivity.
- Responsible Sexual Behavior:
- Abstinence: Choosing not to engage in sexual activity.
- Safe Practices: Using protection such as condoms to reduce the risk of STDs.
- Regular Health Check-ups: Visiting a healthcare provider for routine screenings.
- Open Communication: Discussing sexual health and practices with partners.
