Lesson Plan for Primary Three 

Subject: Security Education
Class: Primary Three
Week of the First Term: 8th Week
Topic: Partnering with Key Security Departments
Sub-Topic: Army, Police, FRSC, LASTMA. Reasons for partnering with them


Instructional Objectives: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. Identify key security departments such as Army, Police, FRSC, and LASTMA and explain their roles in ensuring safety and security (cognitive).
  2. Recognize the importance of collaboration and teamwork between schools and these departments for community safety (affective).
  3. Participate in a role-playing activity demonstrating interaction with a security department representative (psychomotor).

Entry Behaviour:
Students should have basic knowledge of different security departments and understand the importance of safety and rules in their community.


Instructional Materials:

  1. Textbook: Security Education for Primary School 1 Textbook (Bec Edition) by K. Chime, A. Muhammed, & D. Ogunniyi, 2017.
  2. Visual aids: Charts showing the logos and roles of each security department.
  3. Flashcards with scenarios depicting interactions with security personnel.

Content: Partnering with key security departments such as the Army, Police, FRSC (Federal Road Safety Corps), and LASTMA (Lagos State Traffic Management Authority) helps ensure safety and order in our communities. Each department has specific roles in maintaining security, managing traffic, enforcing laws, and responding to emergencies.
