Subject: Cultural and Creative Art
Class: Primary Three
Week of the First Term: 1st Week
Topic: Introduction to Drawing
Sub-Topic: Drawing of things in the environment and their functions (house, chairs, biro, cars, road)


Instructional Objectives

At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. Identify and name at least five objects in their environment and describe their functions.
  2. Draw simple and recognizable pictures of a house, chair, biro, car, and road.
  3. Explain the purpose of each object they draw.

Entry Behaviour

Pupils should already have basic knowledge of common objects in their environment, be able to recognize and name them, and have some experience with drawing simple shapes.

  2. Visual aids: charts depicting houses, chairs, biros, cars, and roads
  3. Drawing paper, pencils, erasers, and flashcards with images and names of objects

Introduction to Drawing:

  • Drawing helps us express what we see in our environment.
  • Common objects like houses, chairs, biros, cars, and roads are part of our daily lives.
  • Each object has a distinct shape and purpose.

House:

  • Shape: Square or rectangle with a triangle roof.
  • Function: Provides shelter and a place to live.

Chair:

  • Shape: Four legs, a seat, and a backrest.
  • Function: Provides a place to sit.

Biro:

  • Shape: Cylindrical with a pointed end.
  • Function: Used for writing.

Car:

  • Shape: Rectangular body with four wheels.
  • Function: Used for transportation.

Road:

  • Shape: Long and flat with lines.
  • Function: Used for vehicles to travel on.
