Sub-topic: Meaning of folk tale or story
         Demonstration of a character in a storybook or folk tales (e.g., tortoise, rabbit)

Instructional Objectives

At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. Define what a folk tale is and identify its key characteristics.
  2. Recognize and describe the roles of different characters in folk tales, using examples such as the tortoise and the rabbit.
  3. Demonstrate their understanding of a folk tale by acting out a character from a story.

Entry Behaviour

Before starting this lesson, pupils should already know simple stories and their characters, as well as have experience listening to stories told by teachers or parents.

  2. Visual Aids: Pictures or illustrations of common folk tale characters (tortoise, rabbit, etc.)
  3. Flashcards: Flashcards with keywords related to folk tales (e.g., “hero,” “villain,” “moral”).

Introduction to a Folk Tale – Story

Meaning of Folk Tale: A folk tale is a traditional story that is passed down through generations. These stories often include moral lessons and feature animals or people as characters. Folk tales can explain why things are the way they are, entertain, or teach important values.

Demonstration of Characters: Characters like the tortoise and the rabbit are common in folk tales. The tortoise is often portrayed as clever and wise, while the rabbit may be depicted as fast but sometimes foolish. By acting out these characters.
