
This study delves into the impact of various teacher variables on the academic achievement of Senior Secondary School pupils in Mathematics within Lagos Education District VI, covering Ikeja, Mushin, and Oshodi/Isolo local government areas. It investigates the relationships between teachers’ experience, gender, attitude towards work, qualifications, and knowledge of information communication technology (ICT), and pupils’ academic performance. Through a descriptive research design, data will be collected from four selected secondary schools in Lagos Education District VI, Lagos. The study aims to provide empirical evidence to educational policymakers, parents, and pupils about the significance of teachers’ characteristics in shaping academic outcomes. Additionally, it seeks to contribute to the existing body of knowledge by shedding light on the factors influencing pupil achievement and offering insights for policymakers and researchers to address these challenges effectively.
