Instructional Objectives

At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. Identify and name three tiers of government.
  2. Explain the roles of each tier of government in simple terms.
  3. Describe one example of how each tier of government affects their daily lives.

Entry Behaviour

Pupils should already know basic concepts of community and roles of people in the community, such as teachers, doctors, and police officers.

Tiers of the Government:

 Government is organized into different levels or tiers that work together to make and enforce laws and provide services to the people.

  • Local Government: Responsible for services like waste management, primary education, and local infrastructure.
  • State Government: Manages services like healthcare, secondary education, and state roads.

Federal Government: Handles national issues such as defense, foreign affairs, and national infrastructure.
