Topic: Flowers
Sub-Topic: Types of Flowers


Instructional Objectives

At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. Identify at least three different types of flowers.
  2. Describe the characteristics of each type of flower.
  3. Create simple drawings or models of different flowers.

Entry Behaviour

Pupils should have a basic understanding of what flowers are and their presence in the environment. They should also have basic drawing skills.

Types of Flowers:

  1. Rose:
    • Characteristics: Typically red, fragrant, and has thorny stems.
    • Uses: Commonly used in gardens and bouquets.
  2. Sunflower:
    • Characteristics: Large, yellow petals with a brown center.
    • Uses: Seeds can be used for food, and oil can be extracted from them.
  3. Tulip:
    • Characteristics: Brightly colored, cup-shaped flowers.
    • Uses: Popular in gardens and as cut flowers for decoration.

  • Discuss the colors, shapes, and uses of different flowers.
