Definition of Farm Tools and Equipment
Farm tools and equipment are instruments that farmers use to help them perform different tasks on the farm. These tools make farming easier, faster, and more efficient. Farm tools can be used for planting, harvesting, digging, cutting, carrying, and maintaining the farm. Each tool has a specific job, and using the right tool for the right task helps the farmer work better and save time.
Types of Farm Tools
Farm tools come in many shapes and sizes, and each one is designed for a particular task. Some tools are used to dig, others are used to cut, some are used to carry things, and others are used to gather crops. It is important to know the names and uses of these tools so that you can recognize them and use them correctly.
Identification and Naming of Farm Tools
Here are a few examples of farm tools, their names, and the jobs they do:
- Cutlass – A cutting tool with a curved blade. It is used to clear weeds, cut grass, and harvest crops like cassava and sugarcane.
- Hoe – A digging tool with a flat blade used to dig and loosen the soil, making it easier to plant seeds.
- Wheelbarrow – A carrying tool used to move soil, water, crops, or tools around the farm. It has one or two wheels and a container for carrying items.
- Rake – A gathering tool used to collect leaves, hay, or soil in piles.
- Axe – A cutting tool with a heavy blade, used for chopping down trees or cutting large branches.
- Basket – A carrying tool used to carry harvested crops like fruits and vegetables.
