Instructional Objectives
At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Define the term “environment” and identify its two types.
- List and describe the components of the environment, including land, water, air, plants, and animals.
- Illustrate examples of natural and man-made environments using pictures or drawings.
Entry Behaviour
Pupils should already be familiar with common features in their surroundings, such as trees, buildings, roads, rivers, and animals.

- Definition of Environment:
- The environment is everything around us, including land, water, air, plants, animals, and human-made structures.
- Types of Environment:
- Natural Environment: Features created by nature, e.g., rivers, mountains, forests, and animals.
- Man-Made Environment: Features created by humans, e.g., buildings, roads, bridges, and parks.
- Components of the Environment:
- Land: Soil, rocks, and terrain.
- Water: Rivers, lakes, and oceans.
- Air: The atmosphere we breathe.
- Plants: Trees, grass, and crops.
- Animals: Domestic and wild animals.
Lesson Presentation
Step 1: Introduction
- Begin with a question: “What are the things you see around you every day?”
- Show pictures of a forest and a busy city to spark interest.
Step 2: Explanation
- Define the environment and describe its types and components using simple terms and visual aids.
Step 3: Demonstration
