Nigeria, a diverse and multi-ethnic nation, has grappled with ethnic conflicts, posing significant challenges to its peace and stability. The Ife-Modakeke Crisis in Osun State stands as a poignant example, reflecting broader patterns of ethnic violence across the country. This study delves into the roots, dynamics, and impacts of the Ife-Modakeke conflict, shedding light on its historical significance within Yoruba heritage and its implications for conflict resolution in Nigeria. Through an exploration of the traditions of origin of both communities, Chapter Two provides valuable insights into the socio-cultural context of the conflict. Chapter Three offers a comprehensive examination of the Ife-Modakeke crisis, elucidating the factors contributing to its eruption and escalation. Chapter Four analyzes the various peace initiatives and resolutions undertaken by the Nigerian government, community stakeholders, and the affected populations.
