Topic: Common Illness
Sub-Topic: Preventive Measures Against Common Illness in Our Community


Instructional Objectives

At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. Identify common illnesses in the community and their causes.
  2. Explain the importance of preventive measures to avoid common illnesses.
  3. Demonstrate understanding of preventive measures through role-playing activities.

Entry Behaviour

Pupils should already know the basic concept of illness and have some awareness of common illnesses such as malaria, typhoid, and diarrhea.

  2. Visual aids: Charts illustrating common illnesses and preventive measures
  3. Flashcards with pictures and names of common illnesses and preventive steps

Preventive Measures Against Common Illnesses

  1. Malaria: Use of mosquito nets, clearing stagnant water, using insect repellent.
  2. Typhoid: Drinking clean water, proper sanitation, washing hands regularly.
  3. Diarrhea: Maintaining hygiene, eating properly cooked food, drinking clean water.
  4. Dysentery: Good personal hygiene, proper waste disposal, drinking boiled or treated water.
