Introduction
Jesus is depicted in the Bible as a man of prayer who often took time to pray to God. Jesus is known as a man of prayer, often taking time to pray to God. He prayed for various reasons, including seeking guidance, giving thanks, and interceding for others. Examples of Jesus praying include His prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane, before feeding the 5,000, and on the cross. Jesus prayed to maintain a close relationship with God, to teach His disciples the importance of prayer, and to seek strength during difficult times.

Body

Reasons Why Jesus Prayed

Jesus prayed for several reasons:

  1. To talk to God about what was happening in His life.
  2. To ask God for help when He needed it.
  3. To say thank you to God for all the good things.
  4. To feel better when He was sad or worried.
  5. To teach us how to pray and talk to God.
  6. To ask God to help and take care of other people.

Lesson Presentation (Step-by-Step Procedure)

Step 1: Introduction
Engage pupils with a story about Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. Ask if they know why Jesus prayed and if they have ever prayed for something important.

Step 2: Explanation
Explain that Jesus prayed often and for many reasons. Highlight three key reasons: to seek guidance from God, to give thanks, and to find strength. Use simple language and examples to make the concepts clear. Show pictures or flashcards of Jesus praying.

Step 3: Demonstration
Demonstrate a simple prayer by reciting the Lord’s Prayer together. Explain each part briefly and discuss why it is important.

Step 4: Guided Practice
Engage pupils in a role-play activity where they take turns saying a short prayer. Provide prompts to help them if needed. Encourage them to pray for guidance, to give thanks, or to ask for strength.

Step 5: Independent Practice
Provide a worksheet where pupils draw a picture of Jesus praying and write one sentence about why He prayed. Encourage them to think about a time when they prayed and to draw that as well.

Step 6: Feedback
Review the pupils’ drawings and sentences. Provide feedback on their understanding of the reasons Jesus prayed. Praise their efforts and correct any misconceptions gently.

Evaluation
Formative Assessment: Observe pupils during the role-play and their participation in the discussion. Ask questions to assess their understanding of why Jesus prayed.
Summative Assessment: Use the worksheet to evaluate their ability to describe Jesus as a man of prayer and identify reasons for His prayers.

Summary/Conclusion
Summarize the lesson by reinforcing that Jesus prayed for guidance, thanks, and strength. Emphasize the importance of prayer in their own lives and encourage them to pray regularly.
