Characters in the Teacher’s Story Book: Demonstration of a Character
In every story, characters play a crucial role in bringing the narrative to life. One such character is Obi, a hard-working boy who teaches us valuable lessons about diligence and perseverance.
Obi wakes up early every morning to help his family on their farm. He tends to the crops, waters the plants, and cares for the animals. His determination to work hard shows that he values the importance of contributing to his family and community. When challenges arise, such as a pest problem in the garden, Obi does not give up. Instead, he seeks help from his parents and learns how to protect the crops.
Through the character of Obi, we learn that hard work and dedication can lead to success and happiness. His story inspires us to be diligent in our own tasks, whether at home, school, or play. By demonstrating his strong work ethic, Obi reminds us that every small effort counts and that we can achieve our goals if we put in the effort.
Lesson Presentation (Step-by-Step Procedure)
Step 1: Introduction
Begin with an engaging story about Obi, highlighting a situation where he showed hard work. Ask the pupils if they can recall any characters from stories they know and what makes those characters special.
Step 2: Explanation
Explain that characters can teach us lessons through their actions. Describe how Obi’s hard work helps him succeed in the story. Use simple language and relatable examples.
Step 3: Demonstration
Show flashcards of Obi and other characters. Act out a scene where Obi works hard to achieve something important (e.g., helping his family). Encourage pupils to observe closely.
Step 4: Guided Practice
In pairs, have pupils role-play a scene where they demonstrate being hardworking like Obi. Provide guidance and support as needed.
Step 5: Independent Practice
Ask pupils to create their own short role-plays based on Obi or another character, emphasizing the character’s traits and actions.
Step 6: Feedback
Observe the role-plays and provide constructive feedback. Address any misconceptions and reinforce the character traits discussed.
Evaluation
- Formative Assessment: Assess pupils’ understanding through their participation in role-playing and discussions during the lesson.
- Summative Assessment: At the end of the lesson, pupils will present their role-plays to the class, demonstrating their understanding of the character’s traits.
Summary/Conclusion
Summarize the key points discussed in the lesson, reinforcing the importance of characters and their traits. Ask pupils to share what they learned about being hardworking like Obi.
Assignment
Pupils will write a few sentences about a character they admire and describe what makes that character special, focusing on their traits and actions.
