Topic: Care of Hands and Feet
Sub-Topic: Parts of the Hands and Feet; Care of Hands and Feet; Reasons for Keeping Hands and Feet Clean

Instructional Objectives
At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. Identify and name the different parts of the hands and feet.
  2. Demonstrate proper methods for caring for the hands and feet, including washing and nail trimming.
  3. Explain why it is important to keep hands and feet clean.

Entry Behaviour
Pupils should already be familiar with basic hygiene practices, such as washing their hands.

Parts of the Hands and Feet:

  • Hands: Fingers, palm, back of the hand, and wrist.
  • Feet: Toes, sole, heel, and arch.

Care of Hands and Feet:

  • Washing Hands: Use soap and water to wash hands, focusing on all parts, including between fingers and under nails.
  • Nail Trimming: Trim nails regularly to prevent infections and injuries.
  • Moisturizing: Apply lotion to prevent dry skin.

Reasons for Keeping Hands and Feet Clean:

  • Prevent Illness: Clean hands reduce the spread of germs and prevent diseases.
  • Avoid Infections: Regular care helps prevent infections and maintain healthy skin.
  • Comfort: Clean feet and hands contribute to overall comfort and hygiene.
