This study delves into the influence of teaching methods, specifically storytelling and the playway method, on the academic performance of primary school pupils in the Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State. Employing a descriptive research design, the study selected five nursery schools using a simple random sampling technique. One hundred questions were distributed to pupils, and data analysis was conducted using the T-Test statistical tool. The research findings underscored the role of storytelling in fostering multicultural awareness and healthy self-concepts among pupils, while the playway method was noted for enhancing teacher productivity and promoting long-term learning retention. Based on these findings, the study recommends that primary school educators carefully consider various factors before selecting teaching methods, advocating for the integration of storytelling and the playway method into pedagogical practices to create engaging and effective learning experiences for both teachers and pupils.
